An interesting and exciting experience

Attending this Poetry Workshop was my first experience ever after graduating from university. All the information given was valuable and it refreshed my mind throughout the session. I personally liked the "The Wall" activity, as it was interesting and refreshing for the start of the day. Besides, the explanation given by Prof. Edwin was really understandable and it gave me an insight that writing poems can be interesting and meaningful to every individual. It also depends on how an individual takes things to understand the actual meaning of a poem. To me, I enjoyed every session of the training and I hope to attend a similar training in future.
工作坊颠覆认知
蔡菱恩（高三文商智）
一直以来，我对中文诗歌有着浓厚的兴趣，但较少接触英文诗歌。我认为，诗歌是个非常有意思且值得研究的领域。我非常享受以游戏学习诗歌，这颠覆了我对诗歌的认知。这一次的工作坊也让我认识到以动态的方式学习诗歌可以有效加深我们对于诗歌涵义、意境等的理解。通过工作坊，我们按部就班完成一首诗的创作，从词汇、句子、段落到完整的诗歌，整个过程非常有趣。我所写的诗是《The purple lady》，即把花比喻成女性，描述了一个女人从青涩、成熟到老去的过程。基于工作坊对我的启发，我将深入探索诗歌并通过不同语言写诗。

There she is,a young and sweet
yet fragile little girl in her adorable purple dress.
She proudly grows and blooms into a purple lady
in her elegant purple dress
in the romantic spring day.
When autumn comes she becomes an old lady
Walking to death Giving out her last sacrifices in the soil.
写诗发挥自身创意

在参与工作坊前，我认为诗歌主题一定要非常有深度。通过诗歌《The Wall》，我意识到任何想法都可以作为诗歌主题，只要能让读者有共鸣、感同身受便是一首好诗。整场工作坊下来，我最喜欢的便是写诗环节，因为那是让我们展现自身知识与创意的机会。当天我写了两首诗，分别为《Something New》及《The Single Flower》。第一首诗以植物的坚韧及毅力为主题，第二首则描述了一朵花如何通过自我认识及他人协助完成绽放，这些都是人在一生中会经历的不同阶段。

I stood right there, with intent stare
At the garden which I tended
The blossoms grew, but very few
Much less than I intended
But then I saw, and beheld in awe
A single violet flower
Among the reeds, the tangled weeds
It stood like a stalwart tower
I watched it grow, on the ground so low
Its purple petals glowed
I gave a pull, the flower bloomed full
Its vibrant glory showed
