庚子年教职员挥春比赛

        为了推广中华文化及提高华文书法水平，我校华文教研组和书法研习社于1月17日（星期五），下午3时在墨艺轩举办庚子年教职员挥春比赛。
        当天迎来24位教职员参赛。赛前，苏进存校长与课外活动处主任谢锡福副校长颁发纪念品予书法研习社
负责老师邝美玉师及黄雅幼师。今年，教职员挥春比赛的题目为 “鸿运频书大有日，昌期幸际升平年”或 “今描绘千秋伟业，明腾飞万里鹏程”，而不谙中文的老师的赛题则为“祥”及“瑞”。
        比赛进行时，书法研习社同学播放了多首新年歌曲，让现场洋溢着喜庆欢乐的气氛。挥春是一项极具意义的华人新春活动，不仅能驱逐恶运、发扬中华民族传统文化，还能为新春佳节增添不少喜气。

我并不擅长写书法，挥春比赛更是我一年里唯一一次手握毛笔的时候。时隔两年再次参赛，看着其他老师秀丽的字体，我不禁感到压力。但参加比赛对我来说是志在参与，是否赢奖并不重要。我非常享受参与书

法比赛，因为通过比赛与老师们增进感情，浓浓的墨香味及悦耳动听的新年歌让我深刻感受到浓厚的新年氛围。

A good opportunity to learn other culture

Chinese calligraphy is very difficult for me. Writing even a simple character requires a certain amount of attention, detail, and patience. It was a little frustrating at the initial stage, but I gradually came to enjoy the process. It is exciting and fun to create a new kind of art using brush and ink. If I have a chance, I would like to learn how to write Chinese calligraphy. Gaining knowledge about the order, thickness, and length of each stroke will definitely help in perfecting my brushstrokes. Participating in this competition is a really good way to learn a new skill of a different culture and gain an insight into the unique art form. I feel delightful, enriching and worthwhile experience when I’ve finished the competition. Managing to draw a character feels great as it's not an easy task.
