Sunway-Oxbridge Essay Writing

Reported by ELC
The Ministry of Education has worked together with the Sunway Group and the Oxford and Cambridge Society of Malaysia to bring the Sunway-Oxbridge Essay Competition across Malaysia in a unified goal to elevate the standard of English amongst secondary school students for three years. According to Tan Sri Razman M Hashim, Deputy Chairman of Sunway Group, the number of schools participating in this essay competition has been  increasing, which is really encouraging. Hin Hua High School, as one of those schools, has also actively involved students in  this competition since 2014.

Again,  this year we had two winners,  they are Kee Jensen from J3 Washington  and Teh Song Chze, Debbie from J3 Chicago, who both walked away with a cash prize of RM500 and a Sunway Bursary of RM5,000 each. We would like to extend our heartiest congratulations to them on their great achievement. We hope that more students will demonstrate proficiency in written communication by participating in any of the essay competitions in the near future.

To be eligible for the essay competition, students had to submit their essays online between April 09 and May 08 The top 100 finalists were then required to take part in a sit-down essay writing competition held on June 11 at Sunway University.
