Poster makers of the future Filled with creativity and inspiration

ELC is back with the annual poster making competition. The competition aims to encourage students to interact and collaborate with one another, and bring their understanding to life in a fun way. It also promotes creativity and  showcases students’ talents and skills through the making of posters.

This year, students from each level were provided with selected themes: “Magical World” (Junior 1), “Friendship” (Junior 2), “Help” (Junior 3), “The Next Generation” (Senior 1), “Equality” (Senior 2) and “Choices” (Senior 3), and were encouraged to submit their posters in a digital form due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Through this competition, students got to develop excellent collaboration skills with their peers, and gain experience on visual designing. While designing a poster, students also had to explain their work, of which students learnt how to convey messages in words and how to reach their target audience.

There were a number of work pieces to choose from and it was challenging for judges to decide the winners. According to the judges, the winning pieces contained a catchy slogan, pleasing graphics as well as a well-explained write-up delivering a strong message. All the winners appeared to be quite artistic and expressive in this competition, and their works are now posted on the ELC Google Sites.

Theme: Magical World

Description:

Firstly , we use black and blue as the background colors of the poster. Black and blue give us a feeling of depress and hopelessness. During theMCO, we know that a small virus and disease can actually lead humans to depression and hopelessness.

That is why we use a glass globe to surround the earth, which was meant to protect our earth. The magical glass globe protects the earth from hopelessness , depression and all types of diseases.

We use white for the glass globe because the white color represents pure and clean, and somehow reflects the feeling of hope and peace.

When there is no more sorrow, no more pain, no m
ore disease in the world, we and our loved ones only can stay together forever.

Hence , this is what we meant by magical world.

Theme: Choices

Description:

The topic for our poster is “Choose to be happy”, inspired by  Ralph Marston’s quote, “Happiness is a choice, not a result,  nothing will make you happy until you choose to be.” First and foremost, we choose warm colours as our theme  colour, such as red, pink, yellow and more. Red and pink  represent passion and love, while yellow represents joy and  optimism. Colours chosen are highly related to our topic, we  hope that people will be able to feel the warmth and  positiveness when they look at our poster. Besides, warm  colou
rs are more noticeable and eye-catching.

Furthermore, we have a logo “: ) :” to represent our thoughts  on the topic. This logo shows that every situation has many  angles, how you feel is according to how you face the  situation. For example, you did not score well in your  examination. If you choose to feel that you are only this good  and this is the end to your path, you will definitely not  improve any further. Whereas, if you think positively, you  will feel more motivated and strive for better, maybe you will  get scores greater than your expectations.

From our poster, we have a recipe of happiness which  includes smile, sharing, love, positivity and optimism. It is  clear to see that being positive is the biggest step to happiness,  while love comes next and lastly smile, sharing and some  optimism. Do know that all of the steps stated are based on  your own choices, you can choose to spread positivity, you  can choose to give smiles to others and these will turn out as your happiness in life.

Being happy is easy, every ingredient you need to be happy is  there to grab. It is left to your own choice whether to be happy  or sad. Why don’t we choose the easier way in life and get on  with it!
