Our warmest congratulations to Amanda Elizabeth Theseira, Cheah Ze Yan, Chia Lai En, Leong Yen Man (Senior level), and Low Yan Qi, Phong Li Wen, Terrence Tang Khye Vern, Tan Eason, Bea Kai Quan, Wong Pro Sam (Junior level) on their achievement in the Sunway-Oxbridge Essay Competition 2020!
Since 2014, SUNWAY Group has partnered with Oxford and Cambridge Society Malaysia to organise the Sunway-Oxbridge Essay Competition in collaboration with the Ministry of Education. This year, all participants from rural and urban secondary schools were invited to submit their original essays based on the theme ‘Integrity’ by March 11.
Contestants in Category A (students in Forms One to Three) were to write an essay from 200 to 350 words on “How is integrity applied into our everyday lives?”. Contestants in Category B (students in Forms Four to Five) needed to write a 500 to 650 word essay on the topic of “How is integrity applied into our everyday lives? Why is it important in this competition?”.
This year, 2530 entries were received nationwide. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the structure of the competition was modified. There were no on-site finals and prize-giving ceremony. A virtual announcement ceremony was held on 5 December 2020 to honour and recognise the efforts of the participants, as well as celebrate some of the brightest minds in Malaysia. 10 students from our school, 6 from category A and 4 from category B were awarded ‘Top Participants’. They brilliantly responded to the questions posed by providing constructive feedback on the application of integrity in their daily lives and its significance in this essay competition with critical thinking and analytical skills.
Again, we would like to express our heartfelt congratulations to the recipients of the Top Participant Award on their remarkable performance. We hope that they will be pursuing their writing dreams continuously.
