        On behalf of the Yeoh family, I’d like to express our gratitude to everyone in Hin Hua High School for your love and support to my beloved father, Tan Sri Dato Seri (Dr.) Yeoh Tiong Lay. The assistance all of you

had offered got us through the difficult time when we mourn the loss of our father.

        My father often talked about the part of history when he co-founded Hin Hua High School with a few other teachers, parents and students in 1947. Back then, it was out of a young man’s displeasure for an unreasonable dismissal of the school principal of Chung Hua High School Klang. However, ever since he became the chairman of the board in 2005, he poured in much of his time and thoughts and also his limited resources to Hin Hua, with only one objective in mind, that is to improve the quality of Hin Hua High School to serve the Chinese community. The efforts include building and upgrading school facility to create a more conducive environment for teaching and learning and enhancing the welfare of teachers and staff.  

        In September 2016 and June 2017, my father led the school delegation to Beijing China and Taiwan, within the family we all know these have been very fruitful trips because in many occasions he happily talked about the warm welcome he received from Peking University, Tsing Hua University in both China and Taiwan, National Changhua University of Education, Quemoy University and the recognition given to Hin Hua graduates. His face glowed with pride and joy when he talked about it. There is nothing greater than such great regards. We, the family, are very thankful that Hin Hua High School made my father a proud man to be the chairman of the school.

        My father wished that with all your combined effort, Hin Hua High School would achieve greater academic excellence. The Yeoh family will further pursue his wishes by setting up some trust funds named after my father and mother to help with Hin Hua High School and SJK (C) Jalan Davidson school development plans.  The trust funds will be managed by some selected trustees for sustainability. It will be announced at a later date after some detailed discussion between my mother and the school authorities. 

        Again, thank you, Hin Hua, for holding this memorial service in loving memory of my father and for all of you present today, your attendance and participation are greatly appreciated.

        首先，我谨代表我母亲及家属感谢兴华中学三机构同仁及全体教职員长期来对父亲的爱戴和支持，在我们最沉痛不舍他离开我们的当儿，陪我们渡过难关，并在治丧期间给予各种协助。谢谢你们。

        父亲经常提起当年与一批家长、老师和同学们共同创办兴华中小学的那段往事，那个时候只是冲着巴生中华中学张联宗校长被无理辞退，对其不公，愤而另创兴华中小学。自从父亲于2005年接任兴华中学董事长之后，他对兴华投入了大量的精力、时间并稍尽绵力，唯一的目的就是提升兴华中学的办学素质，包括建设及改进校舍与设备，以提供舒适的环境支援教师的教学和学生的学习，关注学生的学习及教职员福利。

        去年9月和今年6月，我父亲有幸带领兴华中学同仁前往北京和台湾考察，我们家人都知道那是个收获丰富的行程，因为父亲经常很开心的提到在北京和台湾受到的款待，著名大学如中国的北京大学、清华大学、台湾国立清华大学、彰化师范大学和金门大学，积极招收兴华毕业生的事。身为兴华中学的董事长，他感到非常骄傲，谢谢兴华中学带给我父亲的荣耀。

        父亲一直以来的牵挂，是希望在三机构同仁及教师团队的努力下，兴华在学术上会有更辉煌的成就。我们家属将秉持父亲的遗愿，重新以父亲和母亲的名义命名，协助兴华中学及州立华小设立各项发展基金，并由选定的信托人管理运作，达到永续经营的目的。此事将在日后母亲潘斯里陈开蓉与校方领导层商讨后才公布。

        感谢巴生兴华中学举办这个庄严的追思会，对前来参加追思会的嘉宾，我谨代表母亲及家人致予万分的谢意，感谢大家！
